Stressless’s adjustable Ottomans complete the experience of comfort you’ll find in no other recliner. Stressless’s products are built to the highest standards and feature a 10-year warranty on the internal mechanism. No one builds a recliner like Stressless.
Making it Different.
Furniture should be many things: comfortable, beautiful, functional – and also intelligent. Creating furniture that understands the human body’s unique needs became our mission. Though 80 years of experience and devotion, Stressless became masters of this science – constantly striving to create furniture that exceeds expectations of comfort and utility.
Nothing cultivates the optimal seating environment quite like reliable support. Stressless’s distinctive Plus™ system – a functional skeleton of springs – interprets your body’s movements as you change positions to provide increased lumbar reinforcement. Lie back into your recliner and feel as your spine slides down the chair and continues to be completely supported. You also sense the unique headrest feature continue to lift your head to provide the most optimal body curvature for relaxation. A simple adjustment releases the headrest to a comfortable, flat position ideal for napping. Now, you can maintain the optimal tilt of the neck to make the most of reading, conversing or sleeping – naturally and effortlessly.
Unrestricted movement is the key to true comfort. The Stressless® Glide system reads your body’s weight and shape to adjust making reclining natural and adaptive – not conforming to any preset recline positions like most recliners. It is equally as important to be able to move in and out of your chair. With Stressless’s unique swivel base, 360 degree rotation is possible, allowing for a full range of movement. Experience how a simple push of you foot will send you back into your perfect recline position and how turning in your chair happens effortlessly. Stressless understand relaxation, so Stressless made movement intuitive.
Your body’s interaction with a chair is vital to optimal seating experience. You should be able to sit deep into a chair, not on top of it. The Comfort-Zones™ technology lets you do just that. This foam is molded directly over the steel frame with perforated air pockets that allow you to sink entirely into the seat – creating a more soothing experience. A second layer of foam is fashioned above that to form the most comfortable and ventilated seat possible. Together, these features make Stressless recliners unmatched in comfort and adaptability.
Stressless recliners are certainly not the only pieces of this remarkable furniture that can read your body’s movements. For example, our Stressless sofas are equipped with the Ergo Adapt® feature, which allows the furniture to adapt to your seating position. Lean back into the long seat or lie across the couch and feel how this system controls the tilt in the seat to conform to your body’s most relaxed posture.
Sitting in a piece of Stressless furniture is such a soothing experience, it may be hard to pinpoint exactly which feature is providing natural comfort. Be it the unique system of springs conforming to the curve of your back, the effortless movement you are afforded in every direction or the inventive foam that cradles your body, it is clear that Stressless’s complete comfort system was designed with you in mind.
The Science of Comfort
Under the surface of supple leather lies true engineering genius. From multifaceted sets of springs to foam that contours to your body, every aspect that goes into a piece of Stressless furniture is deliberately assembled to bring you an unparalleled seating experience. Understanding the science of comfort and movement fuelled Stressless’s innovative spirit and desire to design the most comfortable, unique furniture in the world.
Discover the secrets..
The unique cushioning in our Stressless recliners and sofas embraces and supports your body like nothing else. 40 years of innovation have brought us to a point where Stressless wholeheartedly can say that our Stressless recliners and sofas are the best on the market. One reason why Stressless can take such a bold stance is that the manufacturing of every little component on a Stressless takes place at Stressless’s own factories, in the fjords of Norway.
Ekornes Upholstery Leather
Ekornes is one of Europe’s largest consumers of leather. We purchase the leather from selected tanneries all over the world. Our own inspectors take part in the leather selection, which is conducted in accordance with international norms for quality determination. The experience we have gained from this work is for your benefit when you buy Stressless or Ekornes leather furniture. Our leather is manufactured according to current laws, guidelines and recommendations relating to their utilisation properties, and for the use and content of chemicals and other substances. We are cooperating with recognised international institutions in this line of business to ensure that we are updated at all times with events relating to health, safety and the environment.
You can choose between these types of leather for Stressless or Ekornes® furniture
Batick is a corrected, pigment improved and grain embossed upholstery leather, which has had most of its natural marks removed. Batick may have a two-tone colour effect to liven up the surface. Batick is resistant to fading, although changes in colour will occur over time due to use and exposure to light. A protective layer of lacquer simplifies cleaning. Simple cleaning, excellent utilisation properties and a favourable price make Batick a good choice.
Cori is a corrected, pigment improved and grain embossed upholstery leather. Cori has a substantial body and a distinct pebbled grain. Most of its natural marks are removed. Cori has a tip-shine which adds depth and character to the surface. Some colours have two-tone/ tone-on-tone effect. A protective layer of lacquer simplifies cleaning. Cori is a wise choice if you want leather with excellent utilisation properties, a robust structure and an exclusive look.
Paloma is a slightly corrected leather with a combination of dyes and pigments that smoothes down some of the structure (the grain pattern) of the leather. The grain structure in Paloma may however vary a little at some parts of the furniture and also minor colour nuances may appear in the leather. Natural marks, scars and insect bites are natural and will appear in Paloma. A thin coat of lacquer gives Paloma some protection and simplifies cleaning, but Paloma does not have the same heavy duty quality and protection as Batick and Classic. Due to its soft, natural and comfortable expression, Paloma is a very popular choice.
Noblesse is the most exclusive leather quality offered by Ekornes. It is a full grain semi-aniline, which means that it is dyed all the way through and has only a thin protective topcoat. This allows the leather to keep the natural softness and lustre that characterises a first-class furniture leather. A natural material like Noblesse retains its original grain and structure. Minor colour nuances and skin blemishes may also occur. Such individual details could lead to slight variations in different parts of the furniture cover. Although the topcoat provides a measure of protection, Noblesse is the most delicate of the leather qualities that Ekornes uses. It absorbs moisture easily, and is more vulnerable to wear and tear, heat, sunlight, spills and perspiration. Regular maintenance is important to keep its attractive appearance.
Important information if you are buying leather furniture:
As leather is a natural product, colour nuances are normal and colours might vary slightly from one product to another. The leather is sensitive to direct sunlight, stains and perspiration, and colour change will occur with time due to use and the effect of light. Marks left by scars and insect bites are a natural feature of leather with natural grain. Remember that furniture should be protected from direct sunlight and heatingsources.
THE STRESSLESS WOODEN COLORS
You can choose between different colours for your Stressless and Ekornes furniture with visible woodwork. Depending on the model, you can choose from the following stain colours: natural, teak, brown, oak, black, walnut and wenge. Ekornes uses rotary cut beech veneer in all its moulded furniture components. For solid wood components, lightly steamed beach is used.
The hardness of the wood makes beech furniture extremely durable, and the timber we use is a renewable resource. Beech is a natural material, and variations in its pattern, colour and texture make each piece of furniture unique. Even though beech is used in both the solid and moulded components, structural differences may be visible.
The Stressless Construction
1 – The perforated foam, moulded directly over the frame, gives you better seating comfort as the indentations let you sink deeper into the seat and back of the recliner. Comfort Zones™ (pat. pend.) provide you with a proper contour for your body; they give good ventilation and guarantee that the cushions will be long-lasting and forever comfortable.
2 – A soft polyurethane foam pad ensures optimum softness.
3 – The pad of soft polyurethane foam is covered by a layer of super-soft polyester fibre, for a real touch of luxury.
4 – Flexo springs on a steel frame ensure durable construction and strength.
5 – The Plus™ system automatically provides correct support for your head and lower back. The function is double-sided for maximum stability, functionality and lifetime use.
6 – Only genuine top-grain leather covers the front and back of Stressless chairs.
7 – The Stressless glide system automatically adjusts to your body weight, with no buttons or levers to pull.
8 – The two-stem base offers far smoother turning and stability than the one-stem swivels fitted on most recliners.
9 – The concealed swivel ring means that you can easily turn full circle. And the gracefully curved shape of the base is designed for great strength and durability.
